Welcome to the online home of EAA Chapter 340, the heartbeat of general aviation in the Victoria area!
EAA Chapter 340 meets on the last Saturday of every month at Halepaska's Bakery. You'll also find many of our members there on any given Saturday morning conducting some serious hangar flying. To learn more about our chapter, e-mail us at membership@eaa340.org.
Chapter News
No security badges at Victoria, for now...A recent Transportation Security Administration directive requires all general aviation pilots based at airports served by commercial carriers (that would seem to describe VCT) undergo "threat assessments" and obtain security badges in order to enjoy continued unescorted access to the ramp and their aircraft.
However, per Victoria airport manager Larry Blackwell, the "contiguous" nature of the ramp at VCT gives airport and TSA personnel unobstructed visibility. So, we won't have to sit through classes or submit to threat assessments for the time being. Keep your ears open...no telling what the TSA will come out with next.
June looks like a good month for fly-ins:
The Fayette Regional Air Center (3T5, La Grange) is having a bbq fly-in on Saturday, June 6. They're expecting arrivals to begin at around 1000, and will be serving brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, and tea for $7.00 a pop.
Joe Kosler reports that the Uvalde Flight Center (KUVA), in conjunction with his Sierra Industries warbird collection, are planning a fly-in on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of June. Saturday the 14th will be the main day, featuring lots of warbird formation activity and food.
Hope to see you at one or both of these fly-ins. E-mail membership@eaa340.org with any questions and I'll try to get them answered for you.
